About Eid Ul-Adha

Eid Ul-Adha popularly known as the feast of the sacrifice or festival of sacrifice or greater Eid is a major Islamic holiday to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael, as and act of obedience to Allah. It is generally celebrated after the month of Hajj is over that is on the 10th day of the month of Duhl-Hijja, the last month of the Islamic calendar.

Eid Ul-Adha History:

Thousands of years ago, the valley of Mecca was dry and uninhabited. Prophet Ibrahim was instructed to bring his wife and son to Arabia. He left both of them there and returned back to Palestine. Although he left plenty of food for his wife and son but the supplies quickly ran out. As per the story Hajar (wife of Ibrahim) desperately ran amongst the hills of Safa and Marwa and finally asked God to help. Then Ismael struck is foot on ground and a spring of water emerged. With this both the mother and son made lots of money by supplying the water to the passers by. When prophet Ibrahim returned he was amazed and constructed a proper shrine to help the passers by. Gradually Mecca became a habitant place.
