4th of July is here! So let’s indulge in lots of fun, barbeque, fireworks and warm wishes! But before here’s a small history about the celebration:
Independence Day in the United States is celebrated as a national holiday. It was on the 4th of July, 1776 that America declared Independence from the kingdom of Great Britain. The day is celebrated with fireworks, parades, merry making activities like concerts and shows and major league and minor league baseball games. Fourth of July parties, 4th of July barbeques, 4th of July picnics and concerts, it is display of festivity and happiness. On this day, there are a lot of public and private events where politicians give out speeches and meet people. Hoisting of the flag is another activity common to all celebrations.
Fourth of July is a federal holiday and marked by patriotic activities. People enjoy the day with family and friends. On the Independence Day there are parades held, in the afternoon there is a salute of gun shot for each State in the US and is called the salute to the union. In the evening there are fireworks and the sky is light up representing the happiness in the hearts of the countrymen. People sing patriotic songs and national anthem and recall the history of the birth of the great country to which they belong. The glorious fourth marks the separation of USA from the Great Britain during the American Revolution on the 2nd July in 1776 and then two days later Independence was declared.
It is a proud celebration for all belonging to the nation and the love for the country is at display. People host parties and the decorations all revolve around red, white and blue, representing the colors of the flag. People exchange greeting cards and e cards on this day giving out warm wishes and celebrating being an American. Whether it is Macy’s firework in the New York City or Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest in the Coney Islands the happiness shows in every inch of the ground, every bit of the sky that you can see and on every face that is American. The Fourth is more than just a holiday it is time and spirit dedicated to the country.
